John Wesley Adventure for Kids
The Adventure continues. . .
Children in grades K-5 are learning about their Methodist Heritage as they travel back in time to the 1700’s and meet
· John Wesley,
· Susanna Wesley,
· Barbara Heck,
· Thomas Coke, and
· Richard Allen.
At the opening service in Faith Chapel (starting at 9:45) the children will learn “Christ the Lord Is Risen Today,” a hymn by Charles Wesley. Children who wish to participate will be given the opportunity to sing this hymn at either/both church services on Easter Sunday.
At the opening service the children will learn about
· The Holy Clubs
· John Wesley
· Methodist Societies
· Circuit Riders, and
· Camp Meetings
In their Sunday school classes they will listen to Bible stories, learn Bible verses, make a craft, and (if there is time) play an 18th Century game.
The children have been “challenged” to given up a “treat” each week and donate the money they would have spent to the SnackPac program that provides food on the weekend for school children who might otherwise go hungry.
On Sunday, April 1, the children and their families are invited to attend the CAMP MEETING in the Multi-Purpose Room. (Please feel free to dress in the attire of the colonial church.)
As the children were told the first Sunday of the Adventure with John Wesley: When John Wesley lived in the 1700’s, it was a different time. Anything that plugs in now wasn’t available back then. Transportation usually involved a horse. However, one thing that John Wesley had that hasn’t changed is God’s Love and the Gift of Salvation through His Son Jesus Christ.
